KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH FAMILY
Living far away from family is not always easy, especially once you have children.
Luckily, Belgium and the Netherlands are not at the other end of the world. We can get ‘home’ quicker than some of my friends whose family lives at the other side of England.
SKYPE BEDTIME STORIES
I am so grateful for technology, which makes keeping in touch much easier. Last night my husband was working in the evening, so I asked my mum to ‘babysit’ my daughter while I put my son to bed. Little lady loves reading, so her grandmother read lots of Dutch stories over Skype.
MULTILINGUAL UPBRINGING
It is so important for us that our children can communicate with their grandparents. This is one of the reasons I always speak to them in Dutch and my husband speaks to them in French. Our daughter has picked up both languages very well and I am curious to see if her brother will respond to it in the same way.
How far do you live from your parents? Do you use technology to stay in touch?
Als oma een keer niet kan, wil tante Lies ook wel voorlezen via skype hoor! X
